Tony Holler is a high school chemistry teacher and coach at Plainfield North High School in Illinois, USA. A coach for nearly four decades, Tony specialises in the preparation of American football and track and field athletes, including the fastest 14 year old in the country, Marcellus Moore, who recently ran the 100m in 10.40 dead.
As a coach I have been incredibly impressed with the results that Tony has been able to consistently produce with his athletes. Despite battling a lack of time and resources, the Illinois weather, and working with multi sport athletes who attend school full time, Tony pumps out winning teams year after year with his minimalist approach.
It was exactly this approach that was talked about in this episode of the podcast, including his coaching mentors, how he coaches speed from day one with young athletes, “sprint football”, the role of weight training in speed development, scheduling of lactate work outs, and much more.
