Gassing out is one of the most humiliating experiences on the rugby field; when the mind is willing, but you just don’t have any more energy left and you’re forced to slow down or stop completely. Nothing about it- physical or psychological- is good. Obviously conditioning to prevent this and stay competitive for all 80 minutes is a massive part of rugby physical preparation.
However in my opinion a lot of coaches and players get it wrong when training for optimal rugby conditioning. In this video I’ll lay out part one of my philosophy on how to never gas out on the rugby field.
